Ensure friend also has correct communication settings enabled

If you don’t want strangers to see your friend list, then you can just hide it from them. It’s very easy. You can use the enhanced Facebook privacy settings to modify your friend list’s visibility.
One thing which I have noticed when you keep your friend list public is that many people see that list and start adding friends blindly.
And seeing common friends, other friends usually accept the friend request. It’s kind of embarrassing when your female friend informs you that some mutual friend of yours has sent her a friend request.
It’s better to let your friend list be visible only to you and hidden from others.

We've all been there: A distant relative or forgotten acquaintance posts something insulting, vulgar, or just downright obnoxious on Facebook; so, without thinking, you just delete them from your "Friends" list. But what if someone had the same idea about you? Would you even notice if they got rid of you? Well, a Google Chrome extension called Who Deleted Me will tell you who has unfriended you on Facebook.

Who Deleted Me is pretty simple: After you download it, you upload your Friends list to the program, where it will log the number of people you're friends with. From there, it will recheck your list whenever you click on the app and let you know if there have been any changes. The program will also scan your list periodically on its own to notify you if anyone has dropped you. Who Deleted Me differentiates between people who outright unfriended you and those who simply disabled their Facebook accounts.

If you have been unfriended, know that you're not alone. In his research on the subject, Christopher Sibona—a PhD student at the University of Colorado Denver when he released his study—found that, "The most common type of friend who is unfriended is the high school friend (18.6 percent), followed by other (uncategorized), friend of a friend, and work friend."


"High school friends are unfriended for making online posts that are polarizing and for posting too frequently about unimportant topics," Sibona concluded. "Work-related friends are commonly unfriended for engaging in disliked offline behavior and are not typically unfriended for their posting behavior." Sibona's study on Facebook behavior also revealed that the person who originally sent the friend request is more likely the one to be deleted.

There has been an uptick in similar apps in recent years, including Who Unfriended Me?, which is available on Google Play, and a rival service on the App Store. You can also download like-minded services to track your Twitter followers.

Remember, though, none of these programs are approved by either Facebook, Twitter, or whatever social media platform you're monitoring. Before diving in, it’s worth having a look at Facebook’s names policy. You’re required to use “the name [you] go by in everyday life”, but this gives you a fair amount of flexibility. My name on Facebook is Harry and it’s what everyone calls me, but it’s not the name on my birth certificate.You also can’t use things like:
Symbols, numbers, unusual capitalization, repeating characters or punctuation.
Characters from multiple languages.
Titles of any kind.
Words or phrases in place of a name.
Offensive or suggestive words of any kind.

As long as you don’t use anything too ridiculous, you should be able to change your name to whatever you want without Facebook having a hissy fit. It’s also worth noting, once you’ve changed your name, you won’t be able to change it again for another 60 days.
To change your name on Facebook, head to the Settings screen. You can get to it by clicking on the arrow in the top right corner and then clicking Settings.


Next to Name, click Edit.
You’ll then be able to edit and change your name to whatever you want.
Click Review Changes and then enter your password and click Save Changes.
If you’ve got a nickname, professional name or other name that you don’t necessarily go by in everyday life but want attached to your Facebook profile, click Add Other Names. These other names will help people find you in search, so for example, you’d show up for searches for both your married and maiden names.
Click “Add A Nickname, A Birth Name…”
…and select the kind of name you want to add from the dropdowEnter whatever name you want.

Facebook  is great for phones with lower resolution displays because the text and buttons are bigger on the Facebook Lite version. In the Lite version’s notification section, you can see people's profile image pop up to declare if someone commented or liked your post or photo, but it is a smaller and lower resolution image when compared with the full Facebook app.

Generated username sounds like you made your user through Facebook. With Facebook you'll get an username that consists of numbers. Probably letters too, I guess.
When you make your user on Spotify (without using your social platform), your login will be username of your choice and your password.

You can't really change your login information (username), for that you should create a new account.

Yes you are right, I created my account using facebook. But how if I disconnect my facebook from spotify? I can't login to spotify apps anymore, I need to be able to login with email used in my facebook. In fact, I can login to spotify account page using my facebook email although I have disconnected it. So they have my facebook email in their database. Then why do they make it difficult to login using email in their apps? And why do they put text Username or email in the login screen input of the apps if we can only login using username? They should change that text to just Username!
I don't mind the ugly generated username as long as I can login using my email. Or if they insist to make it only username to be used for login, please make an option to change the username. And change text Username or email in the login input to Username to make it clear to the users.


If you created your account with Facebook, you don't actually have to type any username/password, you can simply click on "Login with Facebook" button and it will log you in automatically. If you haven't logged in on Facebook, it will ask for your FB credentials.
(just in case - if you use your Facebook login, you'll be automatically logged in on Facebook too. Logging out on Spotify doesn't log you out of FB. It's a pretty important note if you're using computers that aren't yours....)

Have you ever login with facebook and then disconnect it from the setting of spotify app, and then logout? I have tried it, and spotify doesn't want to log me in using facebook unless I connect it again from my account page.
The point is, spotify just don't want to make their users able to login using email for them who are registered using facebook. And they don't want to make a feature to change the username for them. I am just questioning why they make such rules, instead of asking about the functionality of the app.

That's an easy answer: you can't. They are different companies.
Both Google and Facebook however due to very real significance for most of their users, may be effectively “good enough external user-authentication” to also “log you into” many other sites.

This is a minor point of grammar but a common mistake (as in your question) in use of the Internet:
login - (noun) a term used loosely/variably to mean either user credentials (username and password combination), or a web page/control to facilitate logging in. Also written log-in.

log in - (verb) to provide user authentication credentials in order to gain secure access as an authorized user of a computer system.
So to login is incorrect. To log into or to log in to is the correct verbform of expression.

Some people who use fake or stage names may do so because they have a public persona they want to maintain. Part of the reason Facebook is so strict about its fake name policy is because it believes you already have a method of using a stage name: a Page. While this is an extremely limited form of Facebook compared to a profile, it's useful for publicity.

If you're using a stage name, create a Page with the name you want to use in addition to your personal profile. Save the personal profile for people you know directly, are related to, or communicate with regularly. For your fans, events, and self-promotion, try to use the Page as much as possible. You can use Pages that have the same name as your private profile (I do), so this separation can help reduce red flags. Particularly because of the next reason.
Lock Down Your Privacy Settings

Put simply, increased exposure to people you don't know increases the chances that you will get red flagged by a user. If you have a couple thousand "friends" attached to your profile, there's no way to keep up with their reactions to things. For private, personal sharing, lock your profile down.

You can also use lists and per-post privacy settings to make sure that a particular post is only visible to the people you want to see it. If you have stalkers that are trying to locate you, making sure that all your posts and photos are only visible to specific people. When you search someone on Facebook and/or visit their page, they will not know you looked them up, unless that person you looked up specifically knew in hindsight you would and somehow got access to your computer to install a key logger or some sort of tracking virus. Since I am guessing that the person or people you’re looking up most likely have no such knowledge and ability, then it’s safe to say that you’re totally fine.

Also, I noticed there are a lot of misinformation in many of the other posts that say ‘people you might know’ is based on them searching for you. That is only partially correct, but not wholly true. The algorithm that manages that function is based on a series of formulae that determine whether you might want to add those people as friends or not. Some of these functions include:
Friends of friends.

People that share the same interests, Facebook group Likes, networks.
People that in the past, Liked or have responded to some of your posts frequently enough.
People that have searched for you and friends of those people that have searched for you.
Based on your contacts from various apps such as your email contacts, phone contacts, etc.
Based on your location, though this has debatable.
And many other variables. There are tons of them.

It is impossible to tell if it’s based solely on someone searching for you and vice versa, because there are literally tons of other reasons why people pop up in your “People You May Know” list. So again, it’s safe to say that you’re totally fine and just so you know, this has been tested before many times.

I’ve created test FB accounts for various apps and made them completely private with made up names. People still show up on “People you may know” after awhile.
Interestingly your profile might get showed to them as “Do you know “XXX”? Apart from that there is no other way of them knowing directly that you searched (looked up) at their profile.
