In 2011, Facebook began sending only the most important notifications by email in an effort to reduce inbox overload. "Important" messages include photo tags, security, payment and privacy notifications. The change stopped users from receiving hundreds of daily emails from Facebook. As a business owner, you might want to continue receiving those emails if it is easier to check your inbox than log in to Facebook. Not only can you revive message notification, but also you have the option to filter the type of updates you receive.
Log in to your Facebook account and click the down-facing arrow in the upper right corner.
Click "Account Settings." Select "Notifications" in the left navigation pane and remove the check box beside "Email Frequency" to allow most notifications to be sent to your personal email address.

Scroll down to the All Notifications section and click "Edit" next to Facebook. Make sure there is a check beside "Sends You a Message" to receive an email each time a friend sends you a message. If desired, change the remaining options, such as "Posts on Your Wall" or "Adds You as a Friend" to receive additional updates.
