How to more friend request on Facebook
So, you can’t hide your mutual friend list from everyone unless everyone has their friend list on private. If someone has their friend list on public or friends, others who are not friends with you WILL see that you are on this person’s friend list and so the whole point of keeping your friend list private goes down the hill.
I hope I was able to explain this as clearly as possible and I hope the concept gets past your eyes :)
I know someone who has all mutual friends blocked…all of them. So I don’t know why people say you cannot, because I know for a fact you can. I have verified this with my wife. We are mutual friends of many of the same people, and we wanted to see why someone had zero mutual friends, when we knew they had many. We can’t even see each other as mutual friends though! It can be done, but I don’t know how!

You can exploit a flaw in the structuring of facebooK friends. There isn't any official way to do that because if there was, it would defeat the very purpose of having mutual friends.
The only way to go about it is by setting the privacy of your friends list to "only me". Note that, this doesn't prevent, the friends you have in common from seeing seeing eachother unless one of the mutual friends also has his friends list visible to only him. Got it? Have your freinds lists visible to only you and the mutual friend also visible to only them. Its a flaw

There are controls that let you hide it from all friends or just the ones you choose.
Go to the Friends tab on your timeline (at the top: Timeline, About, Photos, Friends).
Click on the pencil icon just to the top right of this friends list and select "Edit Privacy".
Change the visibility as you like.
Be away, you not only hide the "mutual friends", you hide all of them. Most people are observant enough to realize you are hiding elements that most share publicly.
