How To Create A Poll On Facebook Profile
How to make a poll on FacebookIf you want to engage your fans or promote some products, Facebook polls could help you out. They are effective, interesting and easy to set up. Questions can be posted on Facebook fan pages only by administrators and content creators. Anyone can post a question in the wall of the groups and events.
Here are steps to follow in creating a poll on your Facebook page:
1. Log in to the Facebook and go to the page that you are administrating.
2. Find the status update window on the page timeline. Click “Offers” and then find the option “Questions”.
3. Come up with an interesting question to engage your audience.
4. Now it’s time to add poll options! What you need to do now is to add possible answers for your question and those will serve as options for your fans to choose from when voting. You can add any number of options here. In the bottom left corner of this window you will see an option “Allow anyone to add options”. If you check this feature you will enable anyone to add options for example new answer possibilities for your question. This possibility can sometimes result in people adding irrelevant options so use this option with care. On the other hand, if you want to limit the options and to monitor feedback on the specific topic, it’s best to uncheck this option.
After you have successfully posted your question people can answer it, they can also like, comment and share. When someone answers the question, the question can become publicly visible on their personal profile.
How to see questions you answered on Facebook
1. Go to your timeline / profile
2. Find the button “Activity log”
3. You will see a list that shows Photos, Likes, Comments. Below you will see a button labeled “More”. Click the “More” button and you will see an expanded list of options and one of them will be “Questions”. Here you can find all of the questions you have ever answered on Facebook, organized in chronological order.
The big question
In 2011 a girl named Heather Marie Hollingsworth made headlines by posting, what seem as an ordinary question on her Facebook profile. Surprisingly, she ended up getting over 4 million answers. How did she do it? Well, it all started with a simple question: “Cleaning out my friends list in the next few days…Do you wanna stay?”.
She added three poll options to choose from:
“Yes, keep me”, “Don’t care” and “No, not really”.
Her friends started answering the question and the answer would appear on their wall. Then, their friends, who saw the question, thought that one of their own friends was cleaning his or her friend list and they were eager to stay on the list. So they also joined the poll and quickly the question spread all over the Facebook like a forest fire.
This anecdote showed two things. Question can be extremely viral and also, no one wants to be “unfriended”.
Why people like answering questions on Facebook?
Polls on Facebook offer an engagement and also can serve as an outlet for people to show their attitude, opinion or point of view regarding certain topics. Some people also don’t want to directly address or share some of their views so polls in this case offer an indirect way of expressing their opinion which makes it easier for them to do so.
When to use Faceook questions?
Facebook questions are good tool to be used when you want specific feedback regarding certain product or service, or when you just want to promote for example a line of products. Users respond to these kinds of questions because they feel their opinion is relevant and appreciated. Ultimately, this leads to obtaining a loyal base of fans, i.e. consumers. To put these marketing motives aside, questions can also be used for purely entertaining purposes. The goal here is to engage the fans by posting interesting and interactive content. As a result, your fans are more inclined to return to your page.
Why should you use questions?
Questions are an easy way to get feedback from your audience regarding topics that are relevant to your business. Anyone on Facebook can see, comment and respond to your question (even if they haven’t already liked your page). People use questions for all sort of things, for example big music festivals would ask their audience which artists would they like to see performing on the festival, and people would start adding their favorite bands. Restaurants would post items from their menu to learn which ones are the most popular among their Facebook followers. All sorts of statistical data could be collected using this fun and engaging method.
