Facebook's Messenger app makes it easy to communicate via text messages, voice calls, and videos with friends and family right from your mobile device. The Messenger app is a free download from the App Store on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Messenger works across all mobile and desktop devices, so your friends don't have to be on iOS devices to receive your messages. You can share photos, start a group video call, and send emojis, stickers, and GIFs. Everything is free over a Wi-Fi connection. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.
Messenger has become a popular platform for interacting with brands and services too. You can make reservations, check on orders, get your news in Messenger or hail an Uber or a Lyft car right from the app itself.
Messenger has grown exponentially since Facebook spun it off into its own app. As of mid-2018, it is the second most popular mobile messaging app worldwide with more than 1.3 billion users, behind only WhatsApp, which is also owned by Facebook.

How to Download the Facebook Messenger App

Before you begin, you need to download the Messenger app to your iOS device:
Tap the App Store on your device.
Tap Search at the bottom of the screen.
In the search bar at the top of the screen, type "Messenger" and tap the Search button on the virtual keyboard.
Tap the Get button next to the Messenger app to start the download.

You might be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password if you have not installed an app recently. The installation process takes about a minute or less, depending on your internet connection
After the Messenger app has downloaded, you are just a tap away from enjoying the exciting world of messaging with your social network friends. Locate the Messenger icon, which appears as a white icon with a blue conversation balloon.
Tap the icon to launch Facebook's Messenger app.
In the Welcome to Messenger screen, enter your Facebook email address or phone number and password. If you have another Facebook app on your mobile device, the Messenger app may pull the information from there. Tap Continue.

The app requests permission to send you notifications. This feature is optional, but it's a good one if you want to be notified when a contact is initiating or replying to a conversation on Messenger. If you permit Messenger to send you notifications, an alert appears on your home screen whenever a new message is waiting for you. Tap OK to enable access, or Not Now if you'd prefer not to receive notifications from Messenger.
Once you've finished the setup, you'll see your contacts on the screen.

How Do I Log Out Of Instagram? A Recent Update Appears To Have Removed The Option
Instagram has seen a flurry of updates lately, and it looks like one of them might be causing either a glitch on the platform, or a change that users weren't anticipating. You may be wondering how to log out of Instagram since, for some reason, the log out option seemed to have disappeared from the settings menu for some users on Tuesday. It's quite possibly a bug due to one of the recent upgrades, but it could be intentional. Other apps, like Facebook Messenger, for example, do not have a log out option. Bustle has reached out to Instagram about the issue but has not yet heard back.

(UPDATE: The missing logout option has been confirmed to Bustle to be a bug; a fix is in the works.)

Logging out of the app used to be quite simple, and rather intuitive. You could click the gear in the top right corner, and that would bring up a new menu with a number of options, including one to sign out. But for the moment, that button has mysteriously vanished for some. I've looked in both my personal account as well as the business account that I manage, and I'm totally unable to log out of either. I have not, however, had any problems switching between the two accounts, which some other outlets have reported.

Instagram users are understandably frustrated by the change, especially on the heels of the announcement regarding Instagram's new algorithm and how our newsfeeds are going to be changing in the near future — something quite a few people aren't too thrilled about. (By the way, you can ensure that you see all the posts you want by turning on notifications for those users.)

Hopefully Insta will fix the problem quickly; but here's what we are seeing now. This was what you used to see when you clicked the gear icon. Note the log-out options at the bottom.

If you view Instagram on your desktop (which, by the way, has also undergone a cool upgrade recently), you can still log out of that. Click on the three little dots to the right of your name to bring up the log out option. Here's what it looks like on mine.

Facebook has plenty of security options in place to protect its users, but what happens if they forget their password?

Hackers can gain access to your Facebook account through correctly guessing your password, so it is recommended to change it regularly.
If you have recently changed it and can’t remember its, or you have forgotten a previous Facebook password, here is how to change it and log back in.

How to log into Facebook
It is likely you are one of the hundreds of millions of people whohavea Facebook account to connect with friends online.
If you are trying to login to your account, go tohttps://facebook.comto bring up the login page.

Ensure that no one else is currently logged into Facebook on your computer before entering your email address and password into the login boxes in the top right-hand section of the tab.
If someone is logged in, simply click at the top right of the Facebook page and select log out to sign the person out.

How do you reset your Facebook password?
If you have forgotten your Facebook password, you can get a reclamation email sent to you in order to rest your password and log back in.

When you are on the Facebook login page, click on the ‘Forgotten account?’ button underneath the email and password boxes.
You will then be taken to a page with a box called Find Your Account, where you can enter either your username, phone number, email or full name into the text box.

You will then be given a list of accounts that match the search connected to whatever you typed in. Find your account and click ‘This is my account’.
Once you have selected your account, you will be asked how you wish to reset your password, either through email to the account connected to the Facebook profile, or a text to the associated number.

Once you have followed all instructions in this box you will be sent a security code either through email or text that will reset your password.
If you already know your password but simply want to change it while you’re logged in, head over to the Settings tab on your Facebook account.
