The company announced 500 million users in July 2010, and according to its data, half of the site's membership used Facebook daily, for an average of 34 minutes, while 150 million users accessed the site by mobile. A company representative called the milestone a "quiet revolution."In November 2010, based on SecondMarket Inc. (an exchange for privately held companies' shares), Facebook's value was $41 billion. The company had slightly surpassed eBay to become the third largest American web company after Google and Amazon.com.

Facebook Account Linking and Login Updates Coming to Pokémon GO!

Good news, Trainers! We’ll soon begin rolling out support for account linking with Facebook. Along with a simpler sign-in process, linking Pokémon GO to your Facebook account gives you more options to log in and helps preserve your progress across devices.

With this change, you will also be able to link your Trainer profile to your Facebook and Google accounts, and use any of those credentials to access Pokémon GO. For example, someone who currently logs in with Pokémon Trainer Club could link their Trainer profile to both their Google and Facebook accounts, and then they can use whichever account they prefer going forward. To link your Trainer profile to a Google or Facebook account, access the Settings menu and then select the platform you’d like to link.

Account linking is especially useful for someone who has registered for Pokémon GO using a Google Account that they may not be able to access in the future, such as one associated with a work or university email address. By linking their Facebook account, they can continue to make progress on their Pokédex, and even link a new Google account to their Trainer profile.

Please note: this feature will only be available to Trainers aged 13 and over.

How to hide text messages on iPhone

If you don’t want someone to see a text message on your iPhone you may be wondering if there a way you can lock or hide text messages? Perhaps you are organising a surprise party, planning a holiday, or up to no good. Whatever your reason, you may be hoping that there is a way you can stop someone seeing text messages on your iPhone.

It’s easy to lock your iPhone to stop someone who doesn’t know your passcode from accessing it. But how can you stop notifications appearing on the lock screen and giving the game away, and is there a way you can hide only certain messages?

We look at a few scenarios below that could help you hide and lock text messages on your iPhone.
How to lock your iPhone so someone else can’t access your Messages
The first thing to do is make sure that you have a passcode set up on your iPhone. It is likely that you do already have this as it is a default setting on newer iPhones. But if not, go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Turn Passcode On.
If you do already have a Passcode, but the person you are wanting to keep out of your messages is aware of it, change your Passcode. To do so go to Settings > Touch ID (or Face ID) & Passcode > Change Passcode. You will need to enter your old Passcode before devising a new one.
Make sure the Passcode you choose isn’t completely obvious because despite Apple’s claims about the security of Touch ID and Face ID the only real protection you have is your Passcode. And if that’s easily guessed then ANYONE can access your iPhone. You have a choice of six numbers.

This will stop someone else unlocking your iPhone, but it won’t stop them potentially seeing an alert if you happen to receive a new text message.
How to hide alerts to new Messages
Go to Settings > Notifications and scroll down until you find Messages.
In the Messages section scroll down to Show Previews. By default this will be set to Always. Tap on that and choose: Never. This will mean keep the alert private even if your iPhone isn’t locked. (Alternatively you could choose When Unlocked.)
You will still receive an alert, but the content of the text will remain private. as shown, it will just read "iMessage" rather than giving you a preview of the message.

Alternatively you may wish to stop receiving text message notifications all together. Here’s how to do that:

Go to Settings > Notifications and tap on Messages
Deselect Allow Notifications.
Now when a Message arrives there will be no alert. There will also be no red bubble on your Messages app icon alerting you to the fact that there are new Messages.
To find out if you have a new Message you will need to open Messages. Then you will see a blue dot beside any conversations that have updates.

The problem with this method is it stops you receiving alerts to any new Messages. This could mean you miss out on important updates. Luckily you can choose to stop notifications from just one person, or one group message chain.
Stop notifications from just one person
Go back to Settings > Notifications and scroll down until you find Messages. In the Messages section choose to Allow Notifications (if you’d turned it off in the step above).
Now open the Messages app and find the conversation you wish to silence. Open the message thread.
Tap on the (i) in the top right corner.
Chose Hide Alerts. Now you will not see an alert if a message is received to that Message thread.
If you open Messages you will see that there is a Do Not Disturb crescent moon icon next to the conversation. You will still be able to see the last message and you will be able to open that thread.

There is one other way to hide messages from a particular person but you will need to remove them from your contacts.
To remove the person’s contact details from Contacts go to Contacts, locate the person and tap Edit.
Scroll to the bottom and choose Delete Contact.
In Settings go to Messages.
In Message settings scroll down to Filter Unknown Senders.
This will turn off notifications for iMessages from people who are not in your contacts and sort them into a separate list.
Now messages from that person will appear in a separate Unknown Senders list.

Verifying one of the phone numbers I discovered

Last month, I discovered it is relatively simple to reveal private phone numbers on Facebook, uncovering some phone numbers of Belgian celebs and politicians. Even though this trick only seems to work in small countries such as Belgium (+/- 11.2 million people), a significant number of people is affected by this simple, yet effective privacy leak.

When I notified the fine folks of the Facebook Security team with my concerns, I got an answer I didn’t quite expect:

When the “who can look me up by phone” setting is set to public, your phone number is public.

There are a few issues with this:
The setting is set to public by default
It’s confusing: even though your phone number on your profile is set to ‘only me’, the ‘who can look me up’-setting overrules this. While people think their phone number is private, it’s not:

This setting only indicates whether the phone number is visible on your profile. It does not indicate whether your phone number is public.
If this setting is set to ‘Everyone’, which is the default value, your phone number is considered public.
‘Who can look me up’ also implies the person ‘looking you up’ already has your phone number. It implies that someone if looking for your specific Facebook profile based on your phone number, and not the other way around.
There is simply no only me setting

How to log out user from facebook application, but maintain login from facebook

I have tried the PHP SDK (v.3.1.1), and the current Javascript SDK as suggested here : https://developers.facebook.com/docs/guides/web/

now when trying to log out I have tried both FB.logout() ( for js ) and $facebook->getLogoutUrl() ;
as the documentation for both clearly state, these methods log the user out of the application as well as their facebook session.
But I only need to log the user out of the facebook application ( the test site ).

I have tried logging the user out of my test site, ignoring the facebook aspect. But in this case, when the user clicks the login button again, the login flow ( facebook authentication and redirect ) does not happen.

I also tried : ( as suggested by previous unresolved questions)$facebook->destroySession(); unset($_SESSION['fb_' . sfConfig::get('app_fb_config_id') . '_code']); unset($_SESSION['fb_' . sfConfig::get('app_fb_config_id') . '_access_token']); unset($_SESSION['fb_' . sfConfig::get('app_fb_config_id') . '_user_id']);

however, when redirecting to the login page, $facebook->getUser() still retrieves the user.
note : as per documentation example, I am using php sdk to login the user to my test site, and the js sdk, to render and facilitate the facebook login button.

I just added the saving of the user data into the session. Now, if you use this method, when the user get's into your page you should check if he already has a session, if so all is good no need to authenticate him.

When you want to log the user out of your app, but not out of facebook, just destroy that session:session_start(); session_destroy();

That should remove all saved data you have for the user, next time he visits your page you can start fresh with him.
I'm not a php programmer, and all of the php I used here is from my (very) limited knowledge and what I've found around.

Facebook logs SMS texts and calls, users find as they delete accounts

As users continue to delete their Facebook accounts in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, a number are discovering that the social network holds far more data about them than they expected, including complete logs of incoming and outgoing calls and SMS messages.

The #deletefacebook movement took off after the revelations that Facebook had shared with a Cambridge psychologist the personal information of 50 million users, without their explicit consent, which later ended up in the hands of the election consultancy Cambridge Analytica.

Facebook makes it hard for users to delete their accounts, instead pushing them towards “deactivation”, which leaves all personal data on the company’s servers. When users ask to permanently delete their accounts, the company suggests: “You may want to download a copy of your info from Facebook.” It is this data dump that reveals the extent of Facebook’s data harvesting – surprising even for a company known to gather huge quantities of personal information.

One user, Dylan McKay, reported that for the period October 2016 to July 2017 his logs contained “the metadata of every cellular call I’ve ever made, including time and duration” and “metadata about every text message I’ve ever received or sent”.

Many other users reported unease at the data they had discovered being logged, including the contacts in their address books, their calendars, and their friends’ birthdays.

I had a similar issue with mine on Android. Don't have FB installed but I do use Messenger and Instagram. Interestingly they only tracked when I rang my parents and girlfriend. Have never used Messenger in regards to my parents. Weird.March 24, 2018

How can you Log Into your Gmail Account?

Click Sign In.
Into the Gmail Account Login Page, Enter Your Email Address or Phone Number.
After this, Into the Password Field Type your Password and Click on Enter.
Login to your Gmail Account.

It's kinda tough. If you forget everything except the email id, perhaps it is time to forget the account too.
Other than this, if you know other tidbits such as any used password, recovery email, recovery phone number, approx date of opening of account, place from where logged in to and perhaps anything and everything which justifies that you were the legal owner of the account, you can try recovering the account at Google Account Recovery.
Remember the more details you provide, the better chances you have to recover the account.
