Facebook Website Log in
Wondering how you can target your website visitors more effectively on Facebook?
When you let visitors log into your site with their Facebook profile, you can collect their
demographic attributes and other characteristics.

Facebook Website Log in
In this article, you’ll discover how to add Facebook Login to your website.
How to Use Facebook Login on Your Website by Peter Szanto on Social Media Examiner.

#1: Choose Which Data to Collect

Allow website visitors to register with Facebook Login.
Although it may be tempting to collect as much information as you can from visitors’ Facebook profiles, asking for permissions is a double-edged sword. Each data field you request is likely to decrease the opt-in rate.

So focus on the data that will be most helpful to your business and only ask permission to access this information. Here are some permissions that could be useful:

Email:
If you collect visitors’ email addresses with Facebook, you can avoid misspellings or obtaining that special email address people use only for registrations. Plus, you’ll collect valid, working emails that will match with custom audience uploads to social ad networks, like Facebook Ads or Google Ad Words.

Public Profile
With access to visitors’ public profiles, you’ll collect visitors’ names, the languages they speak, their age group, and gender. Among other things, you can use this information to create more effective and personal marketing messages.
Decide what information you want to collect from visitors’ Facebook profiles.

Likes let you learn about your visitors’ interests and preferences, allowing you to provide a much better experience for them. For instance, if you’re an ecommerce site, you could use this information to recommend products your visitors would like or offer suggestions based on their favorite activities.

With this permission, you can find out which of a visitor’s Facebook friends have registered at your site. This will help provide social proofand improve your recommendation engine.
Tip: If you call your visitors’ attention to the advantages of social login and clearly explain how their data will be used, they’ll be more likely to grant you the necessary permissions.

#2: Set Up Your Login App
After you decide which permissions you want to request from your visitors, you’ll need to build a Facebook application that can handle them. Fortunately, it’s not as complicated as it might sound.

To get started, you’ll need to create a developers account on Facebook. To do this, navigate to developers.facebook.com and log in with your Facebook credentials. Then click Create App in the upper-right corner.

Click Create App after logging into your Facebook developers account.
In the pop-up window, type in a name for your app and choose the category that best describes your website.

Fill in the details for your new Facebook app.

After you’ve successfully created your app (and gotten past the captcha), click the Get Started button for Facebook Login.

Click Get Started next to Facebook Login.
Next click Settings > Basic in the left sidebar.
Go to Settings > Basic in your Facebook developers dashboard.
Then add a link to the privacy policy and the terms of use on your website, and check your contact email.

Add a link to your website privacy policy and terms of use.
Click on +Add Platform and select the Website option.
Select Website as your Facebook app platform.
Add the URL of your site. Make sure you use the correct form of the URL(for example, https://mydomain.com); otherwise, the integration won’t work.

Add the URL for your website.
At this point, you can go ahead and publish your app. Don’t be concerned that no one will find your app at this point. You can publish it in the App Review menu (under Settings).
#3: Submit Your Login App for Review

The next step is to add extra permissions (development and app review as well).
If your app asks for permission from website visitors to access information other than their email address, friend list, and public profile info, you’ll need approval from Facebook before you can start using the app.

Here’s how to ask for permission to access user likes. First, navigate to App Review on your dashboard and click Start a Submission.
Under App Review, click Start a Submission.
Scroll down and select the user_likes option and click Add 1 Item.

Select which items you want to include in your Facebook app submission.
To get access to the likes, you’ll need to provide a step-by-step description of the login process on your website. Facebook’s evelopers Guide details everything you need to know about its requirements.

You’ll also need to explain what you’ll use the likes for. To do this, click the Edit Notes link.
Click Edit Notes under Current Submission.

Now provide a brief description of how your app will work.
Explain how you’ll use the Facebook likes data you collect.
For example, here’s one way you might explain how you’ll use likes for website personalization:
We need access to a person’s list of interests to create a personalized experience by surfacing content related to a person’s social profile.

Using permissions will allow us to visibly change the structure of the website and prioritize content based on the user’s interests.

In addition to this description, you could provide the URL of the site to show your app in action and explain how it will change after visitors use the Login button.
You can also attach a video about the login process on your site. In your video, record and narrate at least the following events on your site:
How a person logs in with Facebook. Explain the placement of the Login button and how it works.
How a person sees this permission used in your app. For example, illustrate how user likes could modify the content of the website

Facebook Login for the Web with the JavaScript SDK

Facebook Login with the Facebook SDK for JavaScript enables people to sign into your webpage with their Facebook credentials.

If for some reason you can't use our JavaScript SDK, you can also implement Facebook Login without it. To implement Facebook Login without the JavaScript SDK, see Manually Building a Login Flow.

Before you begin to implement Facebook Login with the JavaScript SDK, you need a Facebook App ID, which you can create and retrieve in the App Dashboard. You also need somewhere to host HTML files.

Implement Login with the following steps:
Enter Your Redirect URL to take people to your successful-loginpage.
Check the login status to see if someone's already logged into your app. During this step, you should also check to see if someone has previously logged into your app, but is not currently logged in.
Log people in, either with the login button or with the login dialog, and ask for a set of data permissions.
Log people out to allow them to exit from your app.

There is a full code example at the end of this topic.

1. Enter Your Redirect URL

In the App Dashboard, choose your app and go to Products > Facebook Login > Settings. Under the Client OAuth Settings, enter your redirect URL in the Valid OAuth redirect URIs field for successful authorization.

2. Check Login Status

The first step when loading your webpage is figuring out if a person is already logged into your app with Facebook Login. You start that process with a call to FB.getLoginStatus. That function will trigger a call to Facebook to get the login status and call your callback function with the results.

Taken from the sample code below, here's some of the code that's run during page load to check a person's login status:

FB.getLoginStatus(function(response) {
statusChangeCallback(response);
});

The response object that is provided to your callback contains a number of friends.

status specifies the login status of the person using the app. The statuscan be one of the following:
connected - The person is logged into Facebook, and has logged into your app.
not_authorized - The person is logged into Facebook, but has not logged into your app.
unknown - The person is not logged into Facebook, so you don't know if they've logged into your app. Or FB.logout() was called before, and therefore, it cannot connect to Facebook.
authResponse is included if the status is connected and is made up of the following:
accessToken - Contains an access token for the person using the app.
expiresIn - Indicates the UNIX time when the token expires and needs to be renewed.
reauthorize_required_in - The amount of time before the login expires and reauthorization is required, in seconds.
signedRequest - A signed parameter that contains information about the person using the app.
userID - The ID of the person using the app.

Once your app knows the login status of the person using it, it can do one of the following:
If the person is logged into Facebook and your app, redirect them to your app's logged in experience.
If the person isn't logged into your app or isn't logged into Facebook, prompt them with the Login dialog with FB.login() or show them the Login Button.

3. Log People In

If people using your app aren't logged into your app or not logged into Facebook, you can use the Login dialog to prompt them to do both. Various versions of the dialog are shown below.

If they aren't logged into Facebook, they'll first be prompted to log in, then move on to logging in to your app. The JavaScript SDK automatically detects this, so you don't need to do anything extra to enable this behavior.

There are two ways to log someone in:
Use the Login Button.
Use FB.login() from the JavaScript SDK.

A. Log People in with the Login Button

Including the Login Button on your page is easy. For information on customizing the Login Button, see Login Button. To get the code for the basic button, enter the values you want in the following configurator and click Get Code.

Get Code

Note that the example at the end of this topic uses the onlogin attribute on the button to set up a JavaScript callback that checks the login status to see if the person logged in successfully:

<fb:login-button scope="public_profile,email" onlogin="checkLoginState();">
</fb:login-button>

This is the callback. It calls FB.getLoginStatus() to get the most recent login state. (The statusChangeCallback() function is part of the example that processes the response.)

As noted in the reference docs for this function, it results in a pop-up window showing the Login dialog, and therefore should only be invoked as a result of someone clicking an HTML button (so that the pop-up isn't blocked by browsers).

There is an optional scope parameter that can be passed along with the function call that is a comma-separated list of permissions to request from the person using the app. Here's how you would call FB.login()with the same scope as the Login Button we used above. In this case, it would ask for a person's email address and a list of friends who also use the app:

At this point in the login flow, your app displays the login dialog, which gives people the choice of whether to cancel or to enable the app to access their data.

Whatever choice people make, the browser returns to the app and response data indicating whether they're connected or if they cancelled is sent to your app. When your app uses the JavaScript SDK, it returns an authResponse object to the callback specified when you made the FB.login() call:

This response can be detected and handled within the FB.login call, like this:

4. Log People Out

You can log people out of your app by attaching the JavaScript SDK function FB.logout to a button or a link, as follows:

Note: This function call may also log the person out of Facebook.

Consider the 3 scenarios below:
A person logs into Facebook, then logs into your app. Upon logging out from your app, the person is still logged into Facebook.
A person logs into your app and into Facebook as part of your app's login flow. Upon logging out from your app, the user is also logged out of Facebook.
A person logs into another app and into Facebook as part of the other app's login flow, then logs into your app. Upon logging out from either app, the user is logged out of Facebook.

Additionally, logging out is not the same as revoking login permission (i.e., removing previously granted authentication), which can be performed separately. Because of this your app should be built in such a way that it doesn't automatically force people who have logged out back to the Login dialog.

Full Code Example

This code will load and initialize the JavaScript SDK in your HTML page. Use your app ID where indicated.

Now you can test your app by going to the URL where you uploaded this HTML. Open your JavaScript console, and you'll see the testAPI()function display a message with your name in the console log.

Congratulations, at this stage you've actually built a really basic page with Facebook Login. You can use this as the starting point for your own app, but it will be useful to read on and understand what is happening in the code above.

Web forms for dedicated Facebook event page
Facebook’s constant updates often brings us new opportunities to be more efficient in using their platform. If you recently created a new event on your Facebook page you noticed the new “Get Tickets” option. Introduced as a new field on your event wall, it creates a direct link towards an outside page where people can register for your event and pay the ticket. Here you can perfectly integrate your event registration form. So you will do the sign up with no unnecessary extra step. It is placed at the top of the page, above the description, you cannot miss it.

Both the above options are available only for Facebook pages, not for personal profiles. They are meant to help businesses better integrate the social network in their communication strategy. So if you ever need to promote an event on Facebook, don’t hesitate to give them a try and see which suits you best, or even better, use them both in the same time. The beauty of using 123FormBuilder is that no matter on how many channels you publish the form, all the registrations arrive in your account and can be exported in several 3rd party apps like a number of powerful CRMs, file management systems or even Google Drive to see the updates real-time in your Google account.

By using a registration form made with our builder not only that it will offer ease of access for your attendees but it will also help you in future emailing campaigns by providing a solid database of potential leads. So why not give it a try?

It is a great alternative to simply posting the registration on your Timeline and risk to lose your fans’ attention. For instance you can create a creative cover photo to attract the attention of your page visitors towards the event registration form and allow them to sign up for the event directly on your Facebook page. Also, keep in mind we offer multiple payment processor integration so you can even collect the entrance fee directly. Here is how a possible attendee will view the registration form on your Facebook page.

access the full version of facebook’s site on your mobile phone browser
Facebook automatically redirects all mobile web browsers to go to their mobile version. Sometimes I really need to access the actual FULL FACEBOOK SITE because I can’t do everything using the web app or my iPhones native app.
To access the full facebook site:

You just need to load http://www.facebook.com/home.php into your browser.

I recommend you bookmark the link so that you can access it easily (or just remember to add home.php after facebook.com/)
Another way to access the full facebook site:

Go to facebook.com and allow the mobile web app to load. Tap on “More” and then tap on “Desktop Site.”

Once the full site has loaded, avoid tapping on the Facebook logo on the top-left corner and also avoid tapping on YOUR profile name because if you do it will detect that you’re on a mobile browser and direct you to the web app (touch.facebook.com)

On my iPhone 4 the full site works very fast, just like a normal computer. This should work as well for an Android, Blackberry, Nokia or Palm Pre phone as well.

You can also attach a video about the login process on your site. In your video, record and narrate at least the following events on your site:
How a person logs in with Facebook. Explain the placement of the Login button and how it works.
How a person sees this permission used in your app. For example, illustrate how user likes could modify the content of the website after login.

Add Facebook Login to your Ionic 3 App — The Step-by-Step Guide
In this article, I’ll show you how to easily implement the Facebook Login API into your beautiful Ionic 3 app in just a few steps and lines of code. This guide is beginners friendly, it means that everyone who has some basic programming knowledge should be able to understand and replicate it.

Before starting, I assume you already have Ionic 3 installed on your computer. If it’s not the case, you just need to follow this official tutorial on how to set-up your environment.
1. Creating the Ionic 3 App

The very first step of this tutorial will be to create a basic Ionic 3 appwhere we can later implement the Facebook SDK and a login button. This part is done using the terminal to type some command lines — but if you are a Windows user, you can skip this part (1) and use Visual Studio Comminity instead which already contains all the tools to get you started.

We will create blank app so we are not distracted by a menu or a tab. To do this, just execute this command :

ionic start fb-tutorial blank

Then, execute this one to see if everything is correctly set up :

ionic cordova serve

It should automatically launch your browser with a page representing your app.

To finish with this part, just open your newly created project in your favorite code editor. I personally use Visual Studio Code which is easy-to-use and works perfectly with Ionic.
2. Creating the Facebook App

Integrating Facebook Login requires the creation of an app on the Facebook developers platform.

Open the Facebook developers website and click on “My Apps” > “Add a New App” on the top right dropdown menu. Once it is created, you will be redirected to your new app page.

Now we need to add the platforms we want to use with the Facebook SDK. Click on the “Settings” menu link and “Add Platform”. Pick iOs or/and Android and paste your “Bundle ID” (for iOs) or “Google Play Package Name” for Android. This information can be found / edited at Line 2 in the “config.xml” file of your Ionic project; in my case :

<widget id="com.axelhardy.fbtutorial" version="0.0.1" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/ns/widgets" xmlns:cdv="http://cordova.apache.org/ns/1.0">

Finally, just click on the “Dashboard” menu link and copy your App Name and App ID. We will need these infos for the step 3.
3. Integrating the Facebook SDK into your Ionic App

Ionic makes it easy to install plugins with just a few commands. Make sure you are still in your Ionic app directory and execute this one :
